B.Eng.(Hons)(Microelectronic Engineering)

The programme curriculum which has been designed is aimed to render the needs of knowledgeable highly skilled engineers in parallel with Malaysian National Industrial Master Plan aspiration. The programme focuses on industrial exposure, through direct involvement with the industrial sector. This four years programme emphasizes on integrated circuit (IC) design and IC fabrication, which include semiconductor technology, microfabrication process technology, microelectronic reliability and failure analysis. In addition, the programme also covers semiconductor physics, Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) as well as IC packaging.

B.Eng.(Hons)(Electronic Engineering)

Electronic Engineering programme has been designed to fulfil the needs for professional manpower in the areas of integrated circuit (IC) design, electronic design automation (EDA) tools and conventional electronics. The programme covers both full custom IC design and semi custom IC design for digital, analogue, mixed-signals systems, field programmable gate array (FPGA) applications and system on chip (SoC) design. The programme also emphasizes on conventional electronic subjects, which include power electronic, electronic instrumentation, control systems, computer architecture and digital signal processing.

B.Eng.(Hons)(Photonic Engineering)

Photonics engineering is a field of study based on light and its applications. Some of the main applications is in automotive manufacturing, where lasers are used to weld the car structure. Apart from that, the use of lasers can also be found in the medical field to kill cancerous cells, in the defense for distance measurement, in entertainment as laser presentation in optical telecommunications as the medium to transmit data. The objective of this programme is to produce highly competent photonics engineers with a high knowledge of optical engineering science and able to contribute to the needs of the industry.This programme covers three components, namely introduction to photonics, device and photonic light characterisation and lastly photonic engineering applications.

  • PEO 1 : Graduates who are leaders in the field of electronic engineering or chosen field as demonstrated through career advancement.
  • PEO 2 : Graduates who are members and contribute to professional society.
  • PEO 3 : Graduates who engaged in life-long learning or continuing education opportunities.
  • PEO 4 : Graduates who contribute towards research and development.
  • PEO 5 : Graduates who are entrepreneurial engineers.
  • PO 1 : Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering and an in-depth technical competence in Electronic (Photonic) engineering discipline to the solution of complex engineering problem.
  • PO 2 : Ability to identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems
  • PO 3 : Ability to design solution for complex engineering problems and systems, components or processes to meet desired needs
  • PO 4 : Ability to conduct investigation into complex problems as well as to analyze and interpret data
  • PO 5 : Ability to use techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for complex engineering practices so as to be easily adaptable to industrial needs
  • PO 6 : Ability to understand the social, cultural, global and environmental responsibilities of a professional engineer
  • PO 7 : Ability to demonstrate understanding of entrepreneurship, the process of innovation and the need for environmental and sustainable development
  • PO 8 : Ability to understand the professional and ethical responsibilities and commitment to the community

Admission Requirements
General Requirements

Minimum Requirements Matriculation / Foundation
Passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credits in Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu or honors Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu July paper and passed in the subjects of history (SPM years 2013 and above) ;
and
Passed Matriculation / Foundation Science UM / Foundation UiTM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00;
and
A minimum of a Level 1 (Band 1) in the Malaysian University Bahasa Inggeris Test (MUET).

Minimum Requirements STPM
Passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credits in Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu or honors Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu July paper and passed in the subjects of history (SPM years 2013 and above);
and
Passed Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and at least:
- Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in General Studies;
and
- Grade C (2.00) in two (2) other subjects.
and
A minimum of a Level 1 (Band 1) in the Malaysian University Bahasa Inggeris Test (MUET).

Minimum Requirements Diploma / Equivalent
Passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination or its equivalent recognized by the Malaysian Government with credit in Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu or Honours Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu July paper and passed in the subjects of history (SPM 2013 and up);
and
Have a diploma or other qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government and approved by the Senate;

or


Passed the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) in 2015 or earlier with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and at least:
- Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in General Studies;
and
- Grade C (2.00) in two (2) other subjects.

or


Passed Matriculation / Foundation in 2015 or earlier with a minimum CGPA of 2.00;
and
A minimum of a Level 1 (Band 1) in the Malaysian University Bahasa Inggeris Test (MUET).


Special Requirements

Programs Special Conditions:
Obtained at least Grade C (2.00) at the Matriculation/Foundation in any of the following subjects : -
(i) Physics/ Engineering Physics/ Chemistry/ Engineering Chemistry;
and
(ii) Mathematics

Candidates who use Chemistry/Engineering Chemistry qualifications at the Matriculation / Foundation level should get at least a credit (Grade C) at the SPM level in the subjects of Physics.

and
A minimum of Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University Bahasa Inggeris Test (MUET).

and
Candidates are not color blind and physically handicapped that will complicate practical assignments.


Minimum Requirements STPM

Fulfilled General University Requirements
and
Programs Special Conditions:
Obtained at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) at STPM level in the following subjects:-
(i) Physics / Chemistry;
and
(ii) Mathematics

Candidates who use Chemistry qualifications at STPM level must earn at least a credit (Grade C) at the SPM level in the subjects of Physics.

and
A minimum of Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University Bahasa Inggeris Test (MUET).

and
Candidates are not color blind and physically handicapped that will complicate practical assignments.

Diploma Qualification: Diploma from Higher Learning Institutions (IPTA) or other recognized institutions in accordance with the course.
A minimum CGPA of 2.00 at the Diploma level.

Candidates are not color blind and physically handicapped that will complicate practical assignments.
