Programme Objectives

Learning Outcomes

Admission Requirement

PhD Programme:

  • A master’s degree in related fields from any of the institution of higher learning recognised by the University Senate; or
  • Other qualification equivalent to master’s degree recognised by the University Senat.

MSc/PhD Programme:

  • A bachelor degree in related fields or other equivalent qualification recognised by University Senate; and
  • Attained a minimum CGPA of 3.30 (or equivalent) for fresh graduates or a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (or equivalent) for applicants with at least 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Attained a minimum grade of 75% or equivalent for international applicants.

Master of Science (Microelectronic / Electronic / Photonic Engineering)

Programme Objectives
  1. Graduates who are skilled and have extended knowledge in areas of specific expertise.
  2. Graduates who are capable of conducting research in their purpose field of interest.
  3. Graduates who are capable of contributing knowledge and innovation toward new products and services at national/international level.
Learning Outcomes

Admission Requirement
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 from university recognised by University Senate; or
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment:
    • Work experience in relevant fields or research experience recognised by University Senate (1 year=CGPA 0.10); or
    • Obtained a minimum grade of B+ for FYP; or
    • Obtained a minimum grade of B+ for courses related to applied postgraduate programme, with approval of University Senate.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related fields not meeting CGPA 2.50 can be accepted subject to a minimum 5 years work experience in relevant fields.
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised by University Senate

Master of Science (Microelectronic System Design Engineering)

Programme Objectives
  1. Produce graduates who have comprehensive knowledge on device and circuit technology in developing high technology microelectronic systems that combines understanding in analog, digital and MEMS circuit.
  2. Expose on device and circuit aspect in developing microelectronic system and has the ability to conduct research.
  3. Increase research activity in microelectronic system field at UniMAP
Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate continuing and advanced knowledge, and are capable to further develop or use these in microelectronic engineering.
  2. Apply and provide a sustainable solution to real life microelectronic engineering problems using appropriate design tools and techniques.
  3. Apply readily available resources to conduct research ethically, professionally and within legal boundaries.
  4. Possess leadership qualities demonstrated through professional effective communication with peers and stakeholders.
  5. Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems in microelectronic engineering and related fields.
  6. Manage and analyze information for lifelong learning.

  5. Report technical findings in both written and oral forms.
